MASKEY WELCOMES STRANMILLIS COCAINE SEIZURE

Published: 15 November, 2008

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has welcomed the seizure of an estimated £150,000 worth of cocaine in the Stranmillis area by the PSNI last night.

The South Belfast MLA said,

"Any move against tackling the drug problem is to be welcomed be welcomed. The use of cocaine is an increasing problem in our society and those who would peddle drugs have no place in our community.

"It is a worrying fact, highlighted by numerous groups and agencies, that cocaine use is on the increase. This increasing drug use will have a negative knock-on effect on wider society and highlights, once again, the need for a pro-active approach to tackle the scourge of drugs within our society".
