Ó Donnghaile supports £10m Titanic Quarter Development following Council amendmentsPublished: 16 December, 2008
East Belfast Sinn Féin representative Niall Ó Donnghaile has welcomed Belfast City Council's move invest £10 million into the Titanic Quarter as long as certain amendments, tabled by Sinn Féin and accepted by the strategic policy and resources committee, were met.
Mr Ó Donnghaile said, "As stated by my Party colleague, Cllr. Paul Maskey MLA, Sinn Fein supports the £10 million investment into the Titanic Quarter by Belfast City Council. Undoubtedly, this project will have a massive impact upon not only East Belfast, but Belfast as a whole.
"It is essential that East Belfast benefits from this project. I welcome then, the call by the Council for community representatives from the Short Strand to be included on the advisory board of the project. I also welcome the condition attached to the funding that special focus will be placed on ensuring that local people are employed as part of this project and that local material will be used in the construction process.
