Ó Donnghaile responds to reports of Short Strand bus depot sell-off

East Belfast Sinn Féin representative Niall Ó Donnghaile, responding to reports today, that Translink are planning to sell off their depot in the Short Strand area has said that the news will cause obvious concern for those employed in the depot and that he will be seeking to clarify Translink's position on the matter.


He also added that if reports proved to be true that he would be seeking to meet with Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie and Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy to ensure that the local community has an input in any future development on the site.


Mr Ó Donnghaile said,

"Today's reports that Translink are planning to sell their Short Strand bus depot will undoubtedly cause concern among those employed at the depot. It is essential that Translink's position on this issue is clarified as soon as possible, and I will be contacting Regional Development Minister Conor Muphy to discuss this matter.


He concluded,

"If these report prove to be true then I will be seeking to meet with both Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie and Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy to ensure that steps are taken to ensure that the local community have maximum input into any future development on this site, and also to ensure that any future developments benefit both the people and the economy of East Belfast".
