Parker welcomes Roads Service landscaping commitment

Balmoral Sinn Féin representative Vincent Parker has welcomed a commitment given by the Roads Service that their representatives will hold a site visit in relation to landscaping issues around the new bridge at Finaghy Road North. Mr Parker also stated that he is pleased that the Arts Council has pledged to commit money to make the bridge itself more visually acceptable.


Mr Parker stated,

"There is no doubt that the recently completed work at the bridge on Finaghy Road North was necessary and to be welcomed.


"Since the completion of this work, however, residents of the area have raised the issue of landscaping and have asked that the bridge itself be made more visually acceptable.


"I raised these issues directly with the Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy MP and I have spoken to representatives of the Roads Service also.


"I am pleased that the Roads Service have given a commitment to hold a site visit to discuss the landscaping of the area in relation to the bridge. This is to be welcomed and I will also be ensuring that local residents have an input into this process.


Speaking about the Arts Council's pledge to commit money to make the bridge more visually acceptable Mr Parker said,

"I would welcome the news that the Arts Council has pledged to make funds available to make the bridge itself more visually acceptable to the public in general and local residents in particular.


"We must now ensure maximum local input from those who live in the area and I will be working to ensure that this is the case".
