Action Cancer Bus welcomed into Short Strand
Published: 24 April, 2009
Sinn Féin's East Belfast representative Niall Ó Donnghaile has this morning welcomed the action cancer 'Big Bus' into the Short Strand area.
Speaking from the area this morning Mr Ó Donnghaile said,
"The Action Cancer Big Bus carries out vital work throughout the community. It is an invaluable asset that goes out to grassroots and not just gives health checks but informs people of ways that they can improve their health.
The Ballymacarett ward is ranked as the ninth most socio-economically deprived ward in the north of Ireland, a massive aspect of this is the impact on people's health. Initiatives like the Big Bus will go some way at informing people in the area about healthy living and also proactively checking their current state of health.
"I welcome them into the Strand this morning and would encourage people to avail of their services." CRÍOCH
