Sinn Féin East Belfast Representative Niall Ó Donnghaile, along with members of the local Martin/Treacy Sinn Féin Cumann, welcomed MEP for the Six Counties Bairbre de Brún into the Short Strand yesterday (Sunday 16th April).

While there they visited a number of families and community representatives; Niall took the opportunity to brief the Sinn Féin MEP on a number of issues within the area.

Speaking today Mr Ó Donnghaile said,

"Bairbre was very warmly welcomed by numerous residents into the Short Strand yesterday; they enjoyed getting the chance to speak directly with their MEP on issues important to them.

"As well as meeting with a number of families and community representatives, I, along with members of the Martin/Treacy Cumann, took the opportunity to brief Bairbre on ongoing work in the Short Strand community. These include the development of the Mountpottinger PSNI Barracks, the development of the former Sirocco Works site as well other sites in the area; we also briefed her on the current difficulties being experience by the youth provision sector in East Belfast.

"I have no doubt Bairbre will be joining us again over the coming weeks and beyond her re-election on June 4th." CRÍOCH
