Plight of Foreign National homeless unacceptable

Commenting on the 'No Home from Home' report published this week by the Human Rights Commission, South Belfast MLA Alex Maskey said,
"I welcome this report and am concerned by its findings. I'm afraid it is a sad reflection on government that Immigration laws take no account of exceptional circumstances when dealing with those foreign nationals who fall on hard times while going through the Immigration process.
"Human decency would dictate that every individual regardless of country of origin should have access to at least the most basic requirements of food and shelter.
"I support the recommendations of the Human Rights Commission that 'regardless of nationality or immigration status that no one is allowed to fall into destitution."
