South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey is to meet Employment and Learning Minister Reg Empey to discuss the ongoing problems in the Holylands area of South Belfast.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 15th September and comes as residents in the Holyland area brace themselves for the start of a new University term.

Alex Maskey MLA said,

"We are moving closer to the beginning of a new University term, a period which long-term residents of the Holyland area face with considerable anxiety and trepidation.

"The Employment and Learning Minister Reg Empey has, in recent months, put a focus on the problems faced by residents of the Holyland area, and this is to be commended. However, as the new University terms draws closer there is a growing need for measures, both short and long-term to be implemented speedily to tackle the problems faced in this area.

"It was with all of this in mind that I asked to meet the Minister to discuss the problems faced by long-term residents in the Holyland area. I welcome the fact that this meeting will now take place.
