South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has welcomed the recent appointment of a full-time youth worker by the Rosario Youth Club as a sign of the club's commitment to the young people of the area. Cllr. Maskey MLA was speaking after a meeting last week at which local representatives were invited to meet the new youth worker. Read full article

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has appealed for the good work which has been done in some areas of South Belfast in ensuring that flags and bunting only remain up for a limited time to be extended to the Ballynafeigh area. The South Belfast MLA was speaking after being contacted by a number of residents concerned that bunting erected in the Ballynafeigh area over the July period is still up and littering the area. East Belfast Sinn Féin representative Niall Ó Donnghaile has welcomed the SDLP's belated support for Sinn Féin's campaign to get rid of Mountpottinger Barracks but has hit out at the SDLP's attempts to use the policing issue in the Short Strand to cover up for the fact that the SDLP accepted a police force which is less than what the people of the area deserve. East Belfast Sinn Féin representative Niall Ó Donnghaile has said that Bombardier's announcement of 645 redundancies will come as a body blow to the local workforce and that it will have far reaching consequences for the local economy. Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams will lead a party delegation including Caitriona Ruane MLA, Mary Lou McDonald MEP, Conor Murphy MP, Alex Maskey MLA and the head of the party's unionist outreach project Martina Anderson for talks with the Head of the Church of Ireland Archbishop Robin Eames and a senior Church delegation in Stormont on Monday 23rd October at 11am.
This will be the first public meeting between the Sinn Féin leadership and the Church of Ireland. Read full article

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey speaking about proposals to put cap rates in the North has said that while this will offer some respite for those living in high value properties who have low fixed incomes, the only way to truly deal with this issue is to replace the rating system with an income based approach to taxation which would be based on ability to pay.
