Sinn Fein's Alex Maskey, South Belfast MLA and Policing Board member has condemned the attack on a young girl in the Dublin Road area of the city centre.
He has further added that the panic button system in Belfast, operated and controlled by the PSNI, which has been off-line since Tuesday night, must be fixed whatever it takes, over the coming days. Of the 5 emergency contact points in the city centre, one was located on the Dublin Road, close to where the sexual assault of a women occurred last night. Read full article

Hardly a week passes without media reports of elderly people being attacked, sexual assaults, death driving, shootings and stabbings in various parts of Belfast. Unfortunately, these are the issues that make headlines.
But media reports do not paint the full picture or the full extent of damage to communities daily afflicted by the irresponsible actions of a minority. These anti-community elements are not only responsible for physical attacks, robberies and the destruction of property but for instilling fear and apprehension into the general public to the extent that people are afraid to venture into certain sections of out cities, towns and rural communities at night.
