South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has said that a small minority of mindless thugs cannot be allowed to exploit yesterday's trouble in relation to the Northern Ireland and Poland match to further their narrow racist agenda.
The South Belfast MLA was speaking after a number of homes occupied by Polish nationals were attacked. Read full article

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has welcomed an announcement by the Roads Service that they are to carry out repair work on the road surface at St John's Avenue.
The announcement was made by the Roads Service after Alex Maskey asked that they address the issue which had been raised with Sinn Féin members during a door to door survey of the area by Sinn Féin. Read full article

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey, speaking after yesterday meeting with Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy MP and a senior member of the Roads Service to discuss the Ring-Road proposal which had previously been suggested for the Cromac Street/Ormeau Avenue area, has said that he is confident that no such development will take place without full consultation with the surrounding communities. South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has welcomed the news that the Roads Service is to install salt-boxes in the Primrose Hill area. Alex Maskey had requested that the Roads Service install salt-boxes after representations were made to him by local residents during the recent snowfall last month. Read full article

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Policing issues Alex Maskey has accused the SDLP of being in their usual disarray when it comes to policing legislation. Sinn Fein MEP Bairbre de Brun speaking from Gaza has said that the level of destruction is unimaginable and that almost the entire economic and social infrastructure of the area has been destroyed.
Ms de Brun is in Palestine as part of a European Parliament delegation of MEPs looking at the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Read full article

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has called upon the Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie to clarify why discussions aimed at ensuring that housing on the former Curzon cinema site in Ballynafeigh were of mixed tenure have come to nothing.
The South Belfast MLA was speaking after last week attending a meeting of the Ulidia Residents Association where it was revealed that discussions about the site had came to nothing. Read full article
