South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has commended the work being done by all of the staff at Roseville House to help homeless families and has pledged his support to the hostel.
Alex Maskey was speaking as he, this afternoon, officially opened a family fun-day held at Roseville House centre homeless families. The fun-day was organised to mark European Neighbours' Day. Read full article

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey was one of a number of Policing Board members who recently met with a delegation from the UN/Iraqi mission to as part of a briefing on the transformation and progress in policing in the North of Ireland.
The delegation was made up of Iraqi MPs and politicians from the Kirkuk provincial administration alongside United Nation officials. Read full article

South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has said that, despite her statements to the contrary, he does not believe that Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie is committed to Environmental Improvement Schemes in the Market area of south Belfast. South Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has commended the work of all those involved in the redevelopment of the Lyric theatre.

Balmoral Sinn Féin representative Vincent Parker has called for the Equality Commission to retract comments suggesting that the promotion of equality is 'dependent' on economic prosperity.
In written evidence before the OFMDFM Assembly oversight committee, the Equality Commission claimed that "economic prosperity and equality of opportunity are mutually interdependent". Read full article

Balmoral Sinn Féin Representative Vincent Parker has welcomed the news that South Belfast's Victoria College, in Cranmore Park, has been designated as a special school, taking effect from September 2009.
Following the assessment by the independent panel, ten schools were assessed as meeting in full the criteria required for specialist school designation. Six of these had specialisms in STEM-related areas (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). Read full article
