Sinn Féin welcome for consultation on Social Investment Fund
Published: 28 September, 2011
Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has welcomed the launch of the consultation period on the Social Investment Fund and has appealed to communities to submit opinions and suggestions on where and how the fund can be best utilised.
"This is a very important initiative that could make a real difference to the quality of peoples' lives. I appeal to communities to get involved in the consultation so that they can shape the impact the fund will have within their own community.
"This programme is predicated on a high level of community support and cooperation. Clear evidence of objective need is one of the main criteria upon which applications will be assessed in order that it reaches those most in need.
"The fund is designed to reduce poverty and unemployment and all interested groups and statutory bodies need to adopt a joined up approach to ensure this fund delivers a better quality of life for deprived communities."
