Sinn Féin MLA for South Belfast Alex Maskey has today called upon the

British Minister Shaun Woodward to visit the Lower Ormeau district in the

wake of the flood damaged caused almost two weeks ago.

Mr Maskey made his comments after he accompanied residents to Stormont

this afternoon to make the case for financial support.

Speaking today Mr Maskey said:

"Following discussions with officials from the Department of Regional

Development we were informed that a decision on who or what was

responsible for the damaged caused to homes, will be made tomorrow.

"I want to take this opportunity to call on Mr Woodward to deliver the

message directly to the people of the Lower Ormeau Road in person. After

an unacceptably long delay many residents still remain out of their homes

and withtout essential household appliances. Coming up to Christmas

residents are understandbly anxious about how long they will be out of

their homes and what support they will receive."
