Maskey welcomes the removal of dangerous and unsightly building

Published: 7 April, 2006

Cllr Maskey MLA has welcomed the removal of the derelict building formally known as 'Farrell's Bar' on Belfast's Lower Ormeau Road saying "it is great that this dangerous eyesore has been removed from the community".

Cllr Maskey MLA said
"I have long been campaigning for this dangerous and unsightly blemish on the Ormeau road to be removed, especially with the new Arterial Routes Programme proposed to make the area more attractive.

"This derelict building not only had the potential to damage the cosmetic look of the area but also could have lead to serious accidents as it was a public safety hazard. The local community and those who invest in the area were entitled to have this building removed so the community could move forward and plan to improve the area."
Ends.
