Maskey to challenge Planning Management Board over Rushmere House

Published: 22 April, 2006

South Belfast Sinn Fein MLA Maskey will be attending a review meeting with the Planning Management Board in support of residents objections to the Rushmere House development. (Cllr. Maskey MLA was one of a number of representatives nominated by Belfast City Council's Town Planning Committee to attend the review meeting).

Cllr Maskey MLA said

" Politicians in South Belfast have united in support of the residents in their objections to this development. It is a small measure of success that we have managed to get the Planners Management Board to agree to reassess this case.

" In attending this review meeting we will once again be demonstrating to the Planners the great opposition which exists is to this development.

" I would commend the local residents who have fought long and hard to oppose this development. This case, once again, highlights the need for developers and Planners to take on board the wishes of the local community in any development".
