Short Strand Fundraiser Held For Macmillan Cancer

Published: 28 September, 2007

A succesful fundraiser has been held for Macmillan Cancer in the Short Strand Community Centre as part of the charitys "Big Coffee Morning."

The event was organised by the Short Strand Community Forum.

Attending the fundraiser, Niall Ó Donnghaile commended those who organised and supported the event.

"This was a brilliant initiative from the Community Forum and along with the other Coffee Mornings, including the one organised by North Belfast Sinn Féin, I hope this will raise much needed funds for a worthwhile charity.

Many events take place in the month of October to raise funds for cancer related charities. They all deserve our support in helping to ease the suffering of so many people who have been affected by this terrible illness. Indeed, I would encourage people to attend a function which is to be held in St Matthews Social Club on Saturday 6th October in memory of Meta Rosbotham, a young local woman who died from cancer 10 years ago. The function is to be held as a fundraiser for the Marie Curie Foundation.
