Ó Donnghaile supports residents call for securing of Short Strand Play Park.Published: 15 October, 2007
Ó Donnghaile supports residents call for securing of Short Strand Play Park.
Speaking after a weekend of anti-social behaviour where large numbers of beer bottles were left behind in the Play Park on Mountforde Road, East BelfastSinn Féin Representative Niall Ó Donnghaile said,
"This type of behaviour in a children's Play Park is totally unacceptable, it is a nightmare for the residents who live opposite, and it must end now. This is one of only two green spaces within the Short Strand and is widely used by families with small children, only recently the equipment within the park was updated to help improve the standard of play facilities."
"Residents who live nearby and the large amount of residents who use this park should not be subject to anti-social activity within the park, mostly due to alcohol, and I will be in contact with the City Council and party colleagues on the parks and leisure committee in order to facilitate a meeting with myself along with local residents, we must work together to stop the abuse of this much needed park, before someone is hurt."
