South and East Belfast Sinn Féin -- Building an Ireland of Equals

Sinn Féin Challenge Housing Executive.

Following a number of complaints from Housing Executive tenants in the Markets area Sinn Féin today met with the Executives Maintenence Manager and representatives from their main contractor Red Sky.

The Sinn Féin delegation included the South and East Belfast advice worker and Chair of Sinn Féin in the area.

Speaking after the meeting, Alex Maskey said:

"This meeting was requested by Sinn Féin after a considerable number of complaints from tenants in the Markets who have raised issues around the quality of work and the length of time it was taking for essential repairs to be carried out. Indeed, one of the main complaints was from the family of a cancer patient who had been out of his home for over four weeks while basic work was carried out on his home.

We sought and were given commitments from both the Housing Executive and Red Sky on the quality of work and timeframes within which work should be completed.

Sinn Féin will continue to monitor the service that Housing Executive tenants receive throughout South Belfast and we will raise the concerns of tenants at every level when necessary."
