Niall said,
"This is a very open and public beginning to our policy of critical engagement with the PSNI and the party in East Belfast, through our elected member sitting on the DPP, Councillor O Neill we took this opportunity to raise a number of issues of concern within the constituency. Those issues ranged from seeking clarification on when exactly Mountpottinger PSNI Barracks will close, what the PSNI are doing regarding the growing drug problem within the Short Strand given the recent find beside a local youth club and calling on them to remain in contact with youth and community workers in the area regarding this particular case. We also highlighted our concern regarding a number of breaches of the Parades Commissions determination during a march passing St Matthews Chapel on the 25th of August this year."

Cllr O Neill said,
"There are a number of issues concerning residents throughout East Belfast and Sinn Féin will be to the fore in using the DPP structures to hold the PSNI to account on behalf of the people, we don't take their trust or confidence in us lightly."
