Ó Donnghaile Calls For CCTV Footage To Be Made Available

Published: 31 December, 2007

East Belfast Sinn Féin Representative Niall Ó Donnghaile has slammed those responsible for an early morning prank in the Short Strand area and has called on the PSNI to make CCTV footage from Mountpottinger PSNI Barracks available in order to identify those responsible.

Mr Ó Donnghaile said:

"Residents of a number of houses on the Mountpottinger Rd have woken up this morning to find that Union Jack flags had been placed at the front of their houses. Some of these houses are in full view of Mountpottinger barracks.

Those responsible obviously took their time in carrying out this prank.

While I would view this as nothing more than a senseless prank the intimidatory nature of this to those residents cannot be underestimated. People in this community do not wish to see tensions heightened on these interfaces.

I would call on the PSNI to make CCTV footage from Mountpottinger Barracks available in order to identify those responsible."
