GIBRALTAR/MILLTOWN 20TH ANNIVERSARY MAIN EVENTS


Sinn Féin have organised a number of events to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Gibraltar / Milltown Martyrs.

THURSDAY 6TH MARCH
Thursday 6th March 5.30-6pm - West Belfast - Black Flag Vigils

Assemble at 5.30pm at;

  • Falls Road Sinn Fein office
  • Corner of Beechmount Avenue
  • Top of St.James's Road
  • Top of Whiterock Road
  • Top of Monagh Road at 'H'
  • Milltown Cemetery gates
  • Stewartstown Road entrance to Twinbrook
  • Mountpottinger Rd shops, Short Strand

Thursday 6th March 7pm - St.Mary's College - Talkback and Q&A
Veteran republican Joe Austin, human rights solicitor Barra McGrory and others will make up the panel with Belfast Media Group Director Mairtin O'Muilleoir chairing the event

FRIDAY 7TH MARCH

Friday 7th March 11am - Long Gallery at Stormont
A Tribute to Mairead Farrell - Discussion and Q&A
Jennifer McCann MLA will chair the event. The panellists are Cllr. Angela Nelson, Cllr. Tierna Cunningham and Dublin Sinn Fein member Lucilita Bhreathnach.
A DVD will be shown and an exhibition will be on display

Candlelit vigil in memory of John Murray who gave his life defending the mourners in Milltown Cemetery

SATURDAY 8TH MARCH

Saturday 8th March 11am - Republican Women in Struggle
International Women's Day Event
Wreath Laying Ceremony at women's memorial garden followed by panel discussion in Roddy McCorley Club
Sinn Fein activist Aine Hargey will chair the discussion and the panellists will be Carol NiChuilin MLA, Cllr. Charlene O'Hara and ex-OC of the women POW's, Sile Darragh.
A DVD will be shown and an exhibition will be on display.

Saturday 8th March 7pm
20th Anniversary Commemorative Evening
Devenish Complex
· Presentations will be made to the families of the 7 martyrs
· 1st showing of DVD on the Gibraltar/Milltown period
· The speaker will be Martin McGuinness MP MLA
· Music will be provided by Spirit of Freedom
People will need to come early to this event to ensure admission

March and Rally 2pm

Assemble at Felons Club to proceed to Republican plot in Milltown Cemetery for graveside tribute
