Sinn Féin's East Belfast Representative Niall Ó Donnghaile has today said that he will be in contact with Belfast City Council following a large number of dog walkers who use the Lagan Walkway contacting him regarding the lack of bins in the vicinty.

"A number of people have contacted me regarding the lack of bins along the Lagan Walkway from the Short Strand to Bridge End. This is a very popular place for dog walkers, runners and cyclists alike and it is only right that there are suitable facilities nearby for dog walkers to dispose of their pets droppings.

I am in contact with the Council on this matter and hope that bins can be provided in this area to help in keeping the area clean and attractive.

However, there is also an onus on dog walkers to take precautions until such facilities are put in place, they must be aware of the many people who use the walkway."
