Campbell must show the same commitment to An Gaeilge as he will to Ulster Scots - Ó DonnghailePublished: 29 July, 2008
Campbell must show the same commitment to An Gaeilge as he will to Ulster Scots - Ó Donnghaile Sinn Féin's Niall Ó Donnghaile has said he believes that culture Minister Gregory Campbell must show the same degree of commitment to the Irish Language as he has pledged to show to Ulster Scots. Ó Donnghaile said, "Speaking at a reception last night hosted by the Ulster Scots Council, Gregory Campbell said he believes the environment for the promotion of Ulster Scots is very promising. This may well be the case, but the Minister must also acknowledge that the environment and appetite for the promotion of An Gaeilge is vast across Ireland and throughout the world. Initiatives such as An Ceathrú Gaeltachta are attracting cultural tourism and business investment like never before. The Minister should publicly indicate his active support for the promotion of the Irish Language and work to secure the rights and entitlements of Gaelgóirí through the introduction of an Irish Language Act.
