South and East Belfast Sinn Féin -- Building an Ireland of Equals

James Irwin (Castlereagh South)

James is a 21 year-old republican from the Market area of South Belfast. Having been a republican for as long as he can remember he has been active in Sinn Féin since he was 18 where he quickly became the vice-chair of the Nolan/Downey Sinn Féin cumman. He attributes his time in this role to opening his eyes to the vast array of social and economic issues which are facing communities in the wider South Belfast area and beyond.

A former student at St Joseph's college, James is a time-served joiner and currently works as a window fitter.

James believes that the power-sharing arrangements envisaged in the Good Friday Agreement need to be brought home to Castlereagh Borough Council and that this can only be achieved through the election of a strong nationalist in Castlereagh, something that has been lacking for far too long.
